Do you play the EZ2 Lotto? If you're wondering if there are hot numbers in the EZ2 lotto, the answer is on the left.
For EZ2 lotto, you play for 2 numbers out of 31 numbers. If you hit the 2 numbers in exact order, the prize is larger (PHP4000 or approximately USD100). If you hit the 2 numbers in any order, you win half the prize.
The probability of drawing each number is 1/31. The frequency, however, will depend on how large our sample space (number of sample data and events) is. In a large sample, the probability estimate becomes more likely to be close to the true probability, thus increasing the degree of confidence of our estimate.
For this test, I used 1770 samples covering lotto draw results from 2004 to 2009. Using a simple method of outcome over the number of events, this sample most likely will give us the true probability rates.
Findings. Based on this test, the probability rates of each number being drawn frequently are very close, ranging almost uniformly from 5% to 7%. That means, the occurrence of each number being drawn is almost evenly distributed. Not one number registered significantly as far as repeated occurrences are concerned.
