This is an experiment if the forecast formula used in Statistics can be applied to random data such as those of lottery results. The numbers generated here use the forecast formula commonly used in spreadsheet applications such as Excel, Google Sheets, and Numbers for Mac. The data used by the formula are based on the recent Ultra Lotto System 6/58 draw results.
The forecast formula is useful in predicting a future value such as future sales, population growth, consumer behaviour, and for other statistical data. It is not intended to be used for random data such as those of the lottery results; but it is worth to test it for the sake of finding out information.
This generator serves only as a tool for those who choose not to spend so much time analyzing lottery data. Consider the generated numbers here as mere suggestions.
Findings
After a few tests, there were a few times that the number generator featured here was able to predict 3 to 4 values correctly; but you have to have at least 21 combinations. Moreover, the predicted values rarely appeared in one combination. One reason why the forecast() formula cannot be applied to lottery randomness is that this formula calculates the average of the given data. It is for that reason why the predicted values are repeated as the data cover a longer period. To prevent that, the randombetween() formula was alternately used.As an alternative, instead of using the lotto numbers generator above, you may try the Lotto 6/58 Spinner instead, which is down below.
Validation Tool To Check How Probable Your Numbers Are
Here's another tool that validates the probability of your numbers based on some probability factors discussed on this blog. The tool validates the following:- Checks if the ratio of your odd numbers to even are 3:3, 2:4 or 4:2.
- Checks if your low numbers (1 - 29) do not exceed 4; likewise, if your high numbers (30 - 58) do not exceed 4.
- Checks if your numbers are within the winning probable range.
- Checks if the distances between 2 adjacent numbers are within the probable values; likewise, if the difference between the highest and lowest numbers is within the probable values.
