Grouped into 1s, 10s, 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s, is there any group that frequently wins more than any other group?
Group | Grp1s | Grp10s | Grp20s | Grp30s | Grp40s | Grp50s |
Numbers | 1 to 9 | 10 to 19 | 20 to 29 | 30 to 39 | 40 to 49 | 50 to 55 |
First, let's eliminate what's against the odds.
Lotto numbers from 1 group only
Look at the following examples.
Group | Lotto Numbers Example | Odds |
Grp1s | 1 - 2 - 3 - 5 - 8 - 9 | 0% |
Grp10s | 10 - 12 - 13 - 15 - 18 - 19 | 0% |
Grp20s | 21 - 22 - 24 - 26 - 28 - 29 | 0% |
Grp30s | 30 - 31 - 33 - 35 - 37 - 39 | 0% |
Grp40s | 42 - 44 - 45 - 46 - 47 - 48 | 0% |
Grp50s | 50 - 51 - 52 - 53 - 54 - 55 | 0% |
If you're playing lotto numbers that belong only to
one group, like the examples above, the chance of hitting it to the jackpot is
nada. Based on 277 draws, so far, this type of lotto numbers combination has zero probability of winning. So, that means, for now, you don't have to risk your money for this type of lotto numbers combination.
Lotto numbers from 2 groups only
Let's revise the above table. In the examples below, your lotto numbers come from 2 groups only.
Group | Lotto Numbers Example | Odds |
Grp10s & 30s | 12 - 15 - 30 - 31 - 34 - 38 | 2/277 or 1% |
Grp1s & 40s | 03 - 05 - 08 - 43 - 45 - 49 |
This type of combination made it to the jackpot only twice; 2 out of 277 draws or 1%. It doesn't matter how many numbers you play from each group; and which group you use. What is significant is that if you play from 2 number groups only, your odds of winning is only
1%.
Lotto numbers from 3 groups only
What if your 6-number lotto comes from 3 groups only? For example, 2 numbers come from the 10s, 2 from the 20s, and 2 from the 30s; i.e. the 2-2-2 ratio. The other possible ratios or distributions are 4-1-1 and 3-2-1 in any order. It can be 1-2-3 or 2-1-3. It doesn't matter. You can use any group combination as well.
Group ratio | Lotto Numbers Example | Odds |
2-2-2 | 12 - 19 - 22 - 23 - 34 - 39 | 54/280 or 19% |
4-1-1 | 01 - 10 - 12 - 15 - 18 - 46 |
3-2-1 | 33 - 45 - 46 - 51 - 52 - 53 |
Based on 280 draws so far, 54 jackpot numbers came from 3 number groups only. That's a probability of
19%.
Playing lotto numbers from 4 groups only
Combining lotto numbers from 4 groups only seem to be more ideal. Based on 282 draws, 140 jackpot numbers combined four number groups only – that's a probability of
50%. There are only 2 patterns for this type of combination: 2211 or 3111, in no particular order or group. It doesn't matter which groups you want to combine provided you get your numbers only from 4 of the 6 groups. The table that follows shows an example of such combination.
Group ratio | Lotto Numbers Example | Odds |
2-2-1-1 | 02 - 09 - 17 - 19 - 33 - 46 | 140/282 or 50% |
3-1-1-1 | 06- 10 - 11 - 18 - 40 - 55 |
Playing lotto numbers from 5 groups only
Combining lotto numbers from 5 groups only seem to have a fair share. Based on 282 draws, 81 jackpot numbers combined 5 number groups only – that's a probability of
29%. There is only 1 possible pattern for this type of combination: 21111 — in no particular order or group. It doesn't matter which groups you want to combine provided you get your numbers only from 5 of the 6 groups. The table that follows shows an example of such combination.
Group ratio | Lotto Numbers Example | Odds |
2-1-1-1-1 | 06 - 11 - 14 - 31 - 45 - 53 | 81/282 or 29% |
To increase the chances of drawing the ideal combinations to 79%, play numbers from 4 groups (50% probability) and 5 groups (29% probability). Suppose you're playing 8 sets, 5 sets use 4 groups and 3 sets use 5 groups. If you are budget-constrained, play 2 sets from 4 groups, and 1 set from 5 groups.
Playing lotto numbers from all (6) groups
If you are playing the standard system 6 where each number comes from each group, this type of combination made it to the jackpot only 5 times out of
273 282 draws. Therefore, this type of combination, which uses all the groups, for example 8 - 12 - 23 - 34 - 49 - 50, is not highly probable. By avoiding this type of combination, you narrow down your choices as to which numbers should you combine.
Group | 1-9 | 10-19 | 20-29 | 30-39 | 40-49 | 50-55 | Times Won |
Number from each group | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 5 |
