Ultra Lotto 6/58 Results Low and High Numbers Probability

Which lotto 6/58 numbers win mostly: low numbers or high numbers?

Before I answer that question, take a look at the following donut chart. It gives you an idea how lottery combinations are made; and which low:high numbers ratio commonly make it to the jackpot. This is based on results beginning in 2015 up to this date. The data are updated from time to time.

Probability of low:high ratios

How the ratio moves or trends is another way to look at the figures. The following line chart gives you an idea which low:high ratio is currently trending and when it may recur or win again. The data are based on the most recent 100 draws. (The linear graph shows only the low values. It is understood that its counterpart are the high values.)

Trend of low:high ratios

Following is an in depth explanation of the low:high probability study. Some data were based on earlier statistics.

Low Versus High Numbers: The Probability Study

Ultra lotto 6/58 results were gathered to calculate the probability of low numbers and high numbers winning over each other. Are low numbers winning most or high numbers? Let's find out.

If you don't see the chart above, it's OK. Just continue reading.

Based on 1158 results, there's a 51.18% probability that low numbers 01-29 make it to the jackpot. On the other hand, high numbers 30-58 may win at 48.82% probability. It's a close match. So, we can conclude that either low or high numbers have a good chance of making it to the jackpot.

The next question is: how many low numbers and how many high numbers should your combination contain?

Based on the same data, most lotto 6/58 results contain a mix of low and high numbers. Below is a summary of findings.
  • Most common low to high ratio is 3:3 – 3 low numbers and 3 high numbers – at 30.8% probability.
  • The next probable ratio is 4:2 – 4 low numbers and 2 high numbers – at 26.3% probability.
  • The ratio 2:4 – 2 low numbers and 4 high numbers – comes third at 22.5% probability.

The rest of the ratios are as follows:

  • 5:1 – 5 low numbers and 1 high number – 9.41% probability;
  • 1:5 – 1 low numbers and 5 high numbers - 8.64% probability;
  • 6:0 – 6 low numbers (no high numbers) – 1.47% probability;
  • 0:6 – 6 high numbers (no low numbers) – 0.86% probability.

Together, these low figures make a total of 20.4% probability. If budget permits you, you may play this type of patterns as well. Otherwise, you may stick to 3:3, 4:2 and 2:4. Playing 4 low numbers or 4 high numbers may by chance capture the 3:3, 5:1, 1:5, 6:0, or 0:6 ratios. If 3 low numbers hit the jackpot and you played 4, at least, you matched 3. If 5 or 6 low numbers hit the jackpot, at least, you matched 4.

The above statistics is based on results drawn from 2015 to 2023. From time to time, the data here are updated, the chart of which is found below. This statistics is unlikely to change significantly as new results are added.

In the meantime, have fun watching this video how the low-high ratios raced to the top.

Which Lotto 6/58 Numbers Win Most: 1-29 or 30-58?

Most people play numbers of important dates such as birthdays. For that reason, their combinations are mostly composed of low numbers coming from the calendar dates 1 - 31. If you’re playing only low numbers, what are your chances of winning?

To come up with significant data with regard to low and high numbers, each lotto 6/58 result must be arranged numerically from smallest to largest number. For example, the 11 May 2018 result ⎯ 51 • 31 • 22 • 19 • 02 • 32 ⎯ would be re-arranged as 02 • 19 • 22 • 31 • 32 • 51.

Which Numbers Are Low or High

First, let us define which numbers are to be regarded as low or high number.

The lottery system 6/58 uses 58 balls numbered 1 to 58. Divide 58 into 2, the result is 29. So, the first half ⎯ 1 to 29 ⎯ are the low numbers; while the second half ⎯ 30 to 58 ⎯ are the high numbers.

Most Probable Low To High Number Ratios

Similar to the most probable odd-to-even ratios, the ratio of low to high numbers is best at 3:3 followed by 4:2 / 2:4 ratios. This means, that at 79.1% probability, your numbers are best if they are a mix of:
  • 3 low numbers and 3 high numbers
  • 4 low numbers and 2 high numbers
  • 2 low numbers and 4 high numbers
Playing all low numbers (1 - 29) gives you a chance of only 2.2%. Likewise, playing all high numbers (30 - 58) gives you a chance of only 1.2%.

Playing 5 low numbers or 5 high numbers gives you a chance of only 8.7%.

Forming Your Low To High Combination

Compared to the odd-even probability rates, the low-high probability rates are easier to remember. So, when forming your combinations, follow these rules.

  • Your very first number and your second number should be a low number (1 - 29). The probability that it is a low number is 99% and 90% respectively.
  • Your 5th and 6th numbers should be a high number (30 - 58). The probability that it’s a high number is 89% and 98% respectively.
  • Your 3rd and 4th numbers can either be a low number or a high number. The 3rd number is more often a low number at 68% probability. The 4th number is more often a high number at 63% probability.

You can also observe these patterns. There are only 3 patterns that you have to remember. L means low; H means high.

1st2nd3rd4th5th6th
L L L H H H
L L H H H H
L L L L H H

However, we do not exclude the possibility of 5 or 6 low or high numbers to win a jackpot. In 2023 study, based on 1,153 results, 20.38% of the results contain either 5 or 6 low or high numbers; which is equivalent to 235 results. This rare combination of low and high numbers may repeatedly happen within 28 draws of not occurring. To capture the possibility of jackpot numbers to produce 5 or 6 low or high numbers, playing 4 low or 4 high numbers in your combination would do the trick because in such case, you would have matched 4 of the low or high numbers.

Can We Predict the Next Low-High Pattern?

Statistically, no for the reason that it is a hit-or-miss type of prediction. It is not absolute. The figures are there simply to guide you, but you still have to use your own gut feel. Just for the sake of discussion, let us look at the data.

Following is a screen capture from my spreadsheet database.

Instance of Occurrence Based on Elapsed Time

Understanding the Table

  • L means any low number from 01 -29.
  • H means any high number from 30 - 58.
  • Elapsed Time means the number of draws that have elapsed between two occurrences of the same low-high pattern.
  • 2L3L4L refers to any combination that contains 2, 3, or 4 low numbers; which is equivalent to 4H3H2H. In other words, these are low-high patterns based on the ratios 3:3, 2:4, and 4:2.
  • 5L6L refers to any combination that contains either 5 low numbers or 6 low numbers.
  • 5H6H refers to any combination that contains either 5 high numbers or 6 high numbers.

Understanding the Data

  • Based on the first row of data, it is most common that if the latest result contains 2, 3 or 4 low numbers, most likely, the next result will also contain 2, 3, or 4 low numbers (or 2, 3, 4 high numbers). [Time = 0, 2L3L4L = 737]. The second and third row indicate just the same.
  • In the 4th row where time = 3, the 5L6L has 50/50 chance with 2L3L4L.
  • From the 5th row onwards where time = 4 or higher, the 5L6L and 5H6H patterns have better chances.
  • All in all, the safest way to apply this probability is simply to stick to the 3:3, 2:4 or 4:2 low-to-high patterns.

Incorporating the Low and High Probability With the Probable Range of Numbers

In a previous post, you learned about the winning probable range based on probability. Now, let's incorporate the two: winning probable range and the low to high probability rates.

Though the low numbers comprise 1 - 29, it does not mean that you use all of them. Remember that there are bounds based on probability. For example, for your first number, your low numbers are 1-22 (at 96% probability) as against 1-29. Likewise, for your 6th number, instead of choosing from 30 - 58, limit your numbers to 41 - 58.
